Subject: serials inventories

I am fairly new to serials and need advice on doing serials inventories.
We are in the process of converting non-MARC machine records into MARC,
including the holdings format. We need to take a detailed inventory of
our largest branch library (recently merged with another collection)
in order to code our holdings accurately at at least level 3 of the holdings
format.

Can anyone suggest a form, help device, or guidelines to give the workers
which will ensure that our MARC coders will get all the information they
need?  Any advice is welcome. (If you've done a major inventory recently
and are willing to talk to me about it, just give me your phone number.)
