As a recent recipient of a NASIG Student Grant, may I strongly
encourage members of SERIALST to help find candidates for the NASIG
grant.
The NASIG grant is one of the very few library-related student
grants that does not require the applicants to be members of their
association when applying. Last year, I saw and considered the NASIG
grant announcement here on SERIALST, but did not apply until another
serials librarian approached me and explained that I didn't need to
be a member of NASIG to apply. There are probably other future
serialsts working with you who may be making the same assumption I
did.
Last point--the NASIG conference is a wonderful place to see
serials librarians/vendors/publishers in person and in action. For
library science students considering serials, going to NASIG is a very
nice invitation to a special kind of librarianship and service.
