I sent the following message to AUTOCAT and it was suggested that I
try SERIALST. Thanks for any help you can provide.
In cataloging Farmland Update, a newsletter from American Farmland
Trust, I have run into a situation I have not seen before and I would
appreciate suggestions on how to handle it. This title (with
inserts) has succeeded three regional newsletters (Western Farmland
Update, Northeastern Farmland Update, and Midwest Farmland Update).
For each subscription to a regional newsletter, one now receives
identical Farmland Update newsletters with an insert for the region.
A note in the new publications explains "AFTs three regional Farmland
Updates have been combined into a quarterly publication with state
and regional inserts." So far, we have received two identical copies
of Farmland Update, both dated Summer 1993, one with an insert
"California Field Notes" (apparent successor to Western Farmland
Update) and the other with an insert entitled "Northeast Field
Notes." The inserts consist of one page with text on both
sides and do not have any pagination.
Do I need to catalog the new Farmland Update three times or can I
catalog it once with a note explaining the inserts? Do the inserts
need to be cataloged separately? Any suggestions for filing?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
