The University of Rhode Island Library includes current issues of
newpapers, both paper and microfilm, in its INNOPAC since we started
using the Serials Module in September 1993.  Previously we also
checked in newspapers in Faxon's SC-10 system for 5 years. Prior to
1989, newspapers were checked in using a paper Kardex. It's more
convenient to have this information in machine readable form than
having to physically go to the Kardex to find out what issues (or
mfilm reels) have been received.
