Subject: Serials Librarian Opening at NYU Law
SERIALS LIBRARIAN
Reporting to the Associate Librarian for Technical Services, the
Serials Librarian will plan, coordinate, evaluate, and direct
serials control activities including checkin, claiming, binding,
record maintenance, and ensuring quality control of the serials
database on the INNOPAC online library system. The person in this
position will supervise 3 FT staff and student assistants in a busy
and service-oriented department. The Serials Librarian will
maintain written operational procedures, participate in budgeting
and setting policy for serials control, coordinate serials
activities with other departments and faculty members, and take
part in collection development and library-wide activities. The
Serials Librarian will also participate in professional
organizations and keep abreast of trends in serials acquisitions
management.
Requirements: M.L.S. from an ALA accredited library school and 2
years experience in technical services in an automated library
environment; knowledge of online serials control, RLIN or OCLC,
MARC formats, and microcomputers; excellent supervisory and
organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work both
independently and as a team member; ability to communicate clearly
and effectively with individuals and groups, both orally and in
writing; ability to work with materials in foreign languages.
Knowledge of Innovative Interfaces system is preferred.
This opening can lead to a tenure-track position. Salary range is
$39,000-44,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
