Subject: New listserv

The following message is being cross posted to SERIALST, NOTISACQ, and
NOTIS-L. Please disregard the duplication.

NOTISSER is a new listserv devoted to discussion of serials work within
the NOTIS environment. Anyone using NOTIS, or simply interested in NOTIS
applications for serials work (including all aspects of technical
processing and public service) is invited to subscribe.

Because much discussion of LSER is anticipated, a blank version of an LSER
caption/pattern record will soon be made available in the NOTISSER archive.
This will be retrievable by two methods: 1) searching the archive using
e-mail listserv messages, and 2) anonymous ftp. This message will be
useful for cases such as "I input the following record, but it doesn't
work the way I want it to. Can anyone offer suggestions?"

Similarly, a blank version of a NOTIS MHLD record will also be made available
in the NOTISSER archive. As soon as this message and the blank LSER record
are ready for use, the listowner will distribute detailed instructions for
retrieving and using these records to the subscribers of the list.

NOTISSER is a moderated and fully archived listserv. To subscribe, type the
the following message at the prompt where you normally enter "send" or "mail"
commands:

    tell listserv@ukcc subscribe notisser <your name>

Please do not include your e-mail address in this command sequence. Your
local computers will provide that information when your command message is
sent to the listserv software at UKCC. The listserv will send you a message
of acknowledgement after it receives and processes your subscription command.

NOTISSER listowner and moderator,
