I have a problem with Blackwell's Connect, the database for
serials and monographs which is accessible through the JANET
network in the United Kingdom.

At the moment Monash University access it using the software supplied by
B.H. Blackwell. Basically this software is MS-DOS Kermit
version 3.1. and in our case is exactly what we use to run our
own "Monet" in-house network across the University.

The problem is that we are "migrating" over to a new ethernet
(novell) network and are scrapping the Monet network.

There will be some access to the ethernet via kermit which
will talk to a LAT terminal server which will then translate
the required protocols to enable communication over the
ethernet. The problem however is that this may not continue
for very long.

MY QUESTION: Is anyone accessing Connect via an ethernet
network and if so, how then do you cope with function keys
which are supposed to be reassigned using a Kermit script
file?

Anyone at the moment can telnet to JANET and select the
correct janet address, but once in the system, the function
keys (which allow you to move through the system) won't work,
so you can't even logout.

Simon Huggard.
