I work in a science/medical library and we are finding that we are
having problems binding certain titles that have been printed on glossy
paper. Glue is less effective on this type of paper, so the binder
must stitch the publication and he needs a margin of 1.5 cm to do this.
The outer margin is quite large, however the margin that the binder
uses is very small and once it has been bound it is almost useless
as it can't be photocopied. I would like to know if anyone else has
come across this problem and if they have any solutions. I have written
to the printer for this particular title but I am unsure if they can
shift the printing! We use an external bindery.
