Re: Serials Dept. Shelving Workflow Tammy Hefner 29 Jul 1993 19:19 UTC

At Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA we have one full-time
staff member responsible for the check-in and claiming of serials among
other things. Shelving of newly received items is done by 3 student
aides as part of their responsibility. They shelve newly received
journals, newspapers, and microforms. Paper copies of journals and
newspapers are kept in a designated area (Current Periodicals) until
bound, discarded, or replaced by microform. Shelving of used
periodicals (all formats) is done by student aides who are supervised
out of the Circulation Dept. Our current titles received count is
about 2,000.

Hope this helps!
