LIBRARIAN I - SERIAL ACQUISITIONS: Exciting opportunity at
library where professional development encouraged. Reports to
Head of Acquisitions; coordinates serial acquisitions program
($500,000+) for multi-site library system; manages subscriptions,
standing orders, binding on INNOPAC; supervises 2.5 clerical
staff .5 FTE student assistant; assigns and evaluates vendors;
maintains effective vendor contacts; participates in
departmental/divisional planning that supports Libraries' service
mission and maximizes effective operations of department.
Opportunities to gain supervisory/management experience working
with solid management team, to participate in collegial setting
with librarians/faculty, to acquire/strengthen collection
development expertise. Library automation includes growing
microcomputer/electronic mail capabilities, online
catalog/circulation linking four University of Missouri campuses,
OCLC for cataloging/ILL/reference.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: ALA accredited MLS; successful serial or
acquisitions experience; strong oral/written communication
skills; evidence of professional creativity, flexibility;
initiative, strong service commitment; able to work positively,
productively in changing environment; interest in and potential
to meet promotion requirements in non-tenure track appointment.
Legal right to work in U.S.
PREFER: Successful supervisory, collection experience; knowledge
of automated acquisitions or serial control, serial publishing,
MARC serial format; working knowledge of modern European
language.
SALARY RANGE: $25,000 minimum. Competitive benefits including
