Subject: service charges increase
We have recently notified by serials vendor, EBSCO SUBSCRIPTION SERVICEs,
that commission has been dramatically cut by three major publishers,
PERGAMON PRESS, ELSEVIER SCIENCE PUBLISHER BV, SPRINGER-VERLAG.
Begin with 1994, all subscribers come from Taiwan's which heavily involved
with three major STM publishers MUST raised service charges.
In 1993, all this three STM publishers has reached USD 200,000, about one
third of our subscription grand totals. Does any libraries in U.S. or
elsewhere has been heard or have been notified by the vendors. Could you
advise your experience how to handle this and avoid to let us to pay more
service charges to vendor.
