Subject: Chemical Abstracts

1. We are seriously considering canceling our long standing subscription to
CHEMICAL ABSTRACTS and we are wondering what alternatives other libraries
offer their patrons since they cancelled it.

2. Some alternatives we are already offering are:

        a. Mediated searches by librarians
        b. CA SELECTS subscriptions
        c. SDI monthly awareness bibliographies from DIALOG or STN

3. Some alternatives we are considering are:

        a. STN passwords for each department and the departments pay for their
           own searches

4. Some alternatives we are not considering:

        a. Chemical Abstracts on CD-ROM (too expensive and not current)
