We have recently concluded a major cancellation project, which of course
involved lengthy discussions with faculty. Some of the science faculty
were critical of our ordering practices for serials, suggesting that
if we would use "brokers", we would realize significant savings. We
do use vendors such as CANEBSCO, Swets, B.H. Blackwell, etc., but some
of the faculty here are under the impression that serial brokers are not
the same as serial vendors. They were not able to come up with names
of specific companies or individuals.
Can anyone shed any light on this matter?
Many thanks,
