EBSCONET / Internet problems Mitch Turitz 03 Jun 1993 12:55 UTC

I have had problems connecting to EBSCONET through the Internet. I have
made several calls to Ebsco's toll-free number about it, but they keep
saying that the problem must be on our end, since no one else complained
about not being able to connect through the Internet.

I then spoke with our computer support people who told me just the
opposite. I had one of our support people sit down with me and observe as
I connected and got strange messages like "field protected" and other
error messages. He figured out that the cursor is not being placed in the
proper position on the screen, so that when I type something, it thinks I
am trying to put information in a wrong place.

Does anyone else have this problem with EBSCONET? I was told that other
people had similar problems connecting with LEXIS/NEXUS through the
Internet. Can anyone offer any solutions?

I discussed the emulation (VT100 vs. 3270) with both the EBSCONET people
and our computer support people and neither think that or the settings are
the problem (we tried a variety of settings).

any suggestions appreciated.
