Due to budget cutbacks, we have undergone a thorough "Serials Review"
process, and have either completely cancelled or cancelled with the
intention of purchasing a new set every other year many looseleaf
titles.

The sets that will be replaced every other year will be withdrawn and
tossed as the new set is received. The completely cancelled sets are
being retained on the shelf for 5 years, and then will be reevaluated
as whether to continue to keep or to withdraw and toss.

We keep old looseleaf _editions_, but not replaced sets of the same
edition. Some of these are retained on the shelf in the main stacks,
others are retained in a special Historical section. We mark all dead,
cancelled or otherwise non-current materials with a stamp, and those
that circulate have a special color-coded checkout card. We also note
the cancellations or ceasings on all tracings in the card catalog.
