Subject: Dummy bib records for monographic series in NOTIS

          At our library, we create BILLING RECORDS for these, checking the
          LC Authorities accordingly.  We DO NOT suppress from OPAC. Previously
          when we had kardexes, information was available to users at all
          times. So we decided to continue that tradition.
          We do not treat these records any differently from other bib records.
          (because of the time involved with codes etc). We create them
          as provisional records with 900 tags.  We do, however give a
          dummy barcode for each record, so as to avoid the note,
          'Check shelf' in OPAC.  This procedure has worked quite well for us.
