Subject: Black Shelving

I worked in Lovejoy Library at Southern Illinois Unversity at Edwardsville
where they have had black shelving since the building opened in 1965.  Not
only are the shelves black, the end panels and any panelled walls are walnut,
office framing is black and the carpet is a grey/black/tan mottled (sp?)
design.

Generally a dreary place particularly on cloudy days since the only glass is
a small height pane around the floor near the ceiling and at the entrance and
corners.
