Because we are taking a 20% cut in our serials budget for the next
fiscal year, Portland State University Library has targeted
approximately 1300 serial titles for cancellation. Some concerned
individuals have offered to support particular titles by donating the
cost of the subscription to the library. As a result, we are trying
to set up a system to accomodate their wishes, one that won't
generate an inordinate amount of work. My question is, does anyone
have a program like this? If so, how do you handle the accounting
end of it so that you make sure the funds donated support only the
subscriptions? Also, what provisions are there for price increases,
title splits, etc.? Finally, is it more trouble than it's worth?
Thanks.
