I just realized that a recent change in the UVM LISTSERV set up has
rendered the command, "get LISTDB MEMO" useless. This command,
when sent to the LISTSERV@UVMVM.UVM.EDU address, used to
send the requestor a LISTSERV Database Memo, which includes
instructions on how to search SERIALST and/or other BITNET
LISTSERV message databases. The "get LISTDB MEMO" command is now
obsolete (just the command format, not the memo!). If you attempt
to use it you will get the message: LISTDB MEMO is unknown to LISTSERV.
To get the database memo, you should send the command:
INFO DATABASE or
INFO DATABASE F=MAIL
to: LISTSERV@UVMVM.UVM.EDU
The "info database" command has always worked for this memo. Until
recently, so did the "get ..." command.
Apologies to anyone who referred to the most recent SERIALST
Scope and Purpose Statement, which was issued just last week (!)
and may have tried to use the obsolete command to obtain this
memo. Obviously, I need to update the Scope statement again ....
