I'd like to add a third "yes" to Charles Bailey's list of
responsiblilities for libraries in the electronic arena. Libraries also
have the responsiblity of maintaining access to what we consider to be
appropriate to our collections. Ejournals can be archived in a variety of
ways. Libraries may chose to collect the entire core of the ejournal
archives or only the articles or only the articles and the calls for
papers/reviews. Or libraries may chose to archive certain parts of the
ejournal for only a specified amount of time. To rely on an archive that
is external and not within our control neutralizes our collection
management responsiblities. And we are left at the mercy of someone
else's decision, a decision that may not suit the needs of our individual
libraries.
