Subject: Serials Check-in
You may have to think about the binding process and its link to
check in. Try to keep Serials check in with binding too, since
binding involves alteration of records. This aspect is
sometimes forgotten. For ex: In any check in system one has to
change the receipt information after the volume is bound.
At our library, we have all aspects of serials (except
cataloging) in the Serials Acquisitions Section.
This arrangement has worked well so far. We are also
anticipating changes due to reorganization (we are part of
Technical Services). We will also be looking at efficient
ways to handle serials.
