Subject: RE: Serial supplements
To process supplement issues:
I recommend using the check-in/claiming/payment and holdings record of
the parent title. Keep the supplement with the other issues. Bind them
together. So many students are coming to the public service desk here
asking for the summer 1992 supplement issue of Newsweek, etc. It's best
to keep all of these issues together. As for cataloguing, you can analyze
any issue of a serial, supplement or not. I would tag the serial title 730
and make a note "Issued as summer 1992 supplement to Newsweek" rather than
applying series control (4xx/8xx, authority records, and all that).
