I received 16 replies to my question about USBE and other sources for
back issues of periodicals.

Two people mentioned that ACQNET has information on this topic.

Of those who specifically addressed USBE, the following was said:

Easy to work with (1)
Worth the money (1)
Fairly happy with them (1)
Good response (1)
Good for "easy" things like popular titles (1)
Billing is a problem - no longer use (1)
Fill rate
10% (1) 11-35% (1) 20% (1) 25-33% (1) 50% (1)

Basically, people who use USBE seem to be satisfied with their
service, prices, fill rates, etc.

Two people mentioned the NASIG publication by Beth Holley published
in 1991: Directory of Back Issue Dealers.

A message re. the Engineering Libraries Division of the American Society
for Engineering Education Duplicate Exchange List was sent to the list.

Several jobbers were mentioned:

Alfred Jaeger, 66 Austin Blvd, Commack NY 11725 (5)
John Zubal, 2969 W. 25th St., Cleveland, OH 44113 (4)
Hawkeye Book & Magazine Co., Redfield, SD (2)
J.S. Canner, Needham, MA (1)
Norman Laufe CA (1)
Magazines Galore, P.O. Box 25304, Phoenix AR 85002 (1)
Roy Young (catalog) no further info (1)

One person mentioned a fill rate of 25% with SerialsQuest from Faxon.
You'll have to contact Faxon for more info, but I don't believe you
have to be a customer to subscribe to that service.

Thank you one and all. It was helpful to me and hopefully to
others of you as well.
