LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTER
TITLE: SERIALS CATALOGER
RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares copy for OCLC local input and performs some
original cataloging and classification of serial and periodical titles.
Updates and maintains machine-readable bibliographic records for all
serial and periodical titles in our local system and Georgia Union List of
Serials on OCLC. Solves related problems. Assists with training of
library assistants and with revision of their work.
QUALIFICATIONS: ALA/MLS. Knowledge of AACR2 and MARC format; OCLC and
foreign languages; understanding of the application of technology to
technical services processes. Cataloging experience preferred. Excellent
oral and written skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of
staff. U.S. citizenship or permanent resident required.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary and rank dependent upon experience and
qualifications. Faculty status, non-tenured track position. Twenty-one
days vacation, twelve days sick leave and twelve holidays. Group health
and life insurance; state or TIAA/CREF retirement plans.
