This a belated reply to Rachel Cassel's note.

         Our library is on NOTIS. Our systems staff generates a list of
         all open order titles including gifts & exchanges, acquired for
         each department on campus.  This process is possible because
         of a special program set up for our requirements.  Latest payment
         information is also included for titles that are paid for.

         We generally avoid splitting costs between departments. It works
         well only, if vendors comply. With tape load invoicing, the process
         is more difficult. Also, staff have to remember this process
         when posting invoices. It may not be worth the trouble.
