Two positions available, Auburn University Libraries:
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT HEAD: Duties involve providing
reference and information services, maintaining and developing
collection, participating in bibliographic instruction,
coordinating the library's online search and information retrieval
programs, and monitoring cooperative library programs in science
and technology. Reports to the Assistant University Librarian for
Reference and Information Services, has administrative
responsibility for the department. Fully committed to recruitment
and development of a strong staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA - accredited MLS; broad, successful
experience in librarianship and in the use of the literature of
science and technology in both print and electronic formats.
Desirable: Proven scholarly record in writing and research,
professional activity at the national level, background in science
and technology with emphasis on the technical literature and
engineering, and a second masters, or a doctorate. Salary range
$34,000 - $42,000, or higher dependent upon qualifications and

SERIALS ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN: Duties include supervision and
training of 5 support staff members. Management of serials
expenditures totalling $2+ million a year. Maintenance of good
vendor relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS; strong academic
record; and two years serials and/or acquisitions experience.
Desired: Supervisory experience; knowledge of a modern European
language; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
evidence of ability to meet criteria for tenure. Salary $25,000
minimum, higher with experience. Application review process
