Subject: Novyi Mir
The University of Chicago Library had a subscription for this title with
Kamkin. We have not been invoiced for 1992, but did receive the 1st issue of
the new year (nothing since).
We also have correspondence dated 8 November 1991 from the Russian Press
Service, 1805 Crain Street, Evanston, IL 60602 phone 708 491-7172, fax 708
467-1393. The letter says In case you are wondering, we can supply Novyi
Mir, which is no longer available from other vendors....
I am told by our Slavic Librarian that Russian Press Service buys materials
directly in Russia and then sends it over for distribution. They claim to
be able to supply "any journal (6-12 issues/year) published in Moscow or
Leningrad fro $50 still stands. Our newspapers still start at $100 per title
and fall to $60 from the fourth title on."
We have not used them nor have we made any decision on Novyi Mir.
