In reply to Elena Romaniuk's query regarding staffing for serial
check-in, the Golda Meir Library at UW-Milwaukee employs 7 students
who work a total 80 hours and whose primary responsibity is
serial check-in. We also have 4 full time staff, who among their
other duties, handle the "Problem" issues involved in checking
in serials. Two staff members are responsible for training and
supervising the students. We have one part time employee who
pays our invoices. Our open serial titles number approximately 9800.

Our department is currently involved in converting from the
Perline automation system to NOTIS. Prior to the conversion
process, all government documents were checked in by the
acquisition staff. As these records are input to NOTIS, a full
time staff member in the Government Documents units is assuming
responsibility for document check-in. Hope this helps.
