POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
SERIALS/GOVERNENT DOCUMENTS LIBRARIAN (entry level): University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Law Library.
REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited library science degree; knowledge of
AACR2rev., MARC formats, LC classification and subject headings.
PREFER: Library experience, knowledge of serials cataloging, government
documents, and automated library systems. DUTIES: Supervise government
documents depository program; catalog serials and supplemented
monographs; assist in implementation of an integrated library system.
LIBRARY: The Law Library will soon migrate from a locally developed
online catalog to an integrated library system. A retrospective
conversion and reclassification project begun in 1985 is approximately
60% complete. The collection includes 350,000+ volume equivalents and
more than 60,000 titles. The library selects less than 10% of items
available in the depository library program. Depository materials are
shelved in the general stacks. The Technical Services Division
includes three professional librarians, seven support staff, and
student assistants.
