Guest Moderator for SERIALST Birdie MacLennan 09 Mar 1992 16:55 UTC

The SERIALST moderators will be away (attending UKSG) for approximately
two weeks (March 21 - April 4), during which time, Ann Ercelawn,
Serials Librarian at Vanderbilt University, has very graciously agreed
to join SERIALST as an interim Moderator. During the course of the
next few weeks, we will be running some tests to get Ann into the flow
of things. This should NOT significantly alter the ebb and flow of
your messages. However, you may notice a different appearance (and
name) in the headers of SERIALST's mail throughout the course of the
month. We would like to extend an enormous thanks to Ann for agreeing
to take this on in our absence.

By the way, if you've been wondering about SERIALST's headers
and why sometimes your mail comes "from" an editor vs. "from" the
originator of the message, some of this does come from the amount
of editing we do before distributing mail (i.e., multiple messages,
or mail that comes to you in "digest" form, will always come "from"
one of the moderators) -- but some of this is a result of the fact
that the moderators are operating from different sites, with different
mailing systems, and different mailing systems have different ways of
interacting with each other. We have not yet figured out a way
to make our approach to moderating the influx of SERIALST mail as
seamless as we would like. But we hope that won't discourage you
from continuing to send it to us.

Please bear with us through our ongoing tests and changes and join
us in offering thanks and a welcome to Ann Ercelawn, soon to be your
interim moderator.
