Linda Hall Library, an independent research library in science and
technology, has an opening for a Serials Librarian. Linda Hall
Library, a member of ARL and IRLA, is in the initial stages of
developing an integrated library system. The serials system will
be a major component of the ILS.
The Serials Librarian has has responsibility for a collection of
approximately 39,000 titles and for the overall operation of the
serials division which includes federal documents and preservation.
This position reports to the Librarian for Processing Services and
has a staff of two professional and seven support positions.
Minimum qualifications: ALA accredited degree, five years
experience with serials, administrative and supervisory experience,
and ability to work with foreign language materials. Candidate
must have knowledge of a full range of serials activities,
including selection and acquisitions, bibliographic and budgetary
control, claiming, binding and use of OCLC. Must also have the
ability to respond flexibly to fluctuating workflow and to
coordinate a number of diverse activities. Familiarity with the
operation of an automated serials control system is desirable.
Minimum salary $28,000.
