Subject: Explicit copy numbers

This is a cross posting to NOTIS-L NOTISACQ-L NOTMUS-L SERIALST AUTOCAT
NOTRBCAT and GOVDOC-L. For those who subscribe to more than one please
excuse the duplication.

The University of Connecticut is in the final stages of planning for
loading its OCLC records into NOTIS 5.0. We have in the past used
explicit copy numbers and are fact finding on whether to use them in the
future. Experience of other NOTIS sites would be most helpful.

1. Did you use explicit copy numbers prior to barcoding you collection?

2. If explicit copy numbers were used, did you use explicit c.1 when that
was the only copy held by the library?

3. Have you continued to use explicit copy numbers after you initial data
base load and after your collection received barcodes?

4. If you have discontinued the use of explicit copy numbers are there or
have there been any acquisition implications?

5. Have there been any bib extract implications?
