>From my experience at the Univ. of Mass. Lowell , the same staff performed
the processing of Periodicals and Continuations. Periodicals were much
faster to check in online and did not require as much research. Continuations
had to be processed for the Catalog Department (i.e. Call No., instructions
for location, added copy, volume, etc.)and often involved searching in the
online database.
