Re: Life magazine Gaele Gillespie 10 Dec 1991 01:06 UTC

In response to Stephen Clark's inquiry about LIFE magazine:

Upon checking our on-line records, we have issue records for special issues
beginning in 1988: vol. 11, no. 5 (Spring 1988)
                             no. 10 (Fall 1988)
                    vol. 12, no. 5 (Spring 1989)
                             no. 12 (Fall 1989)
                    vol. 13, no. 2 (Winter 1990)
                             no. 7 (Spring 1990)
                             no. 12 (Fall 1990)
vol. 14, no. 1 (Jan. 1991) "Year In Pictures 1990"
                             no. 6 (Summer 1991)
                             no. 13 (Fall 1991)

It appears that in most years we have received most of the special issues
automatically; even when we had to claim, we obtained them without additional
charge through our vendor. Since these special issues are included in the
annual volume numbering, they SHOULD be considered (by us and by our vendor)
as part of the annual subscription. Thus far the special issues have also been
included in the microfilm -- this is equally as important to us, because we
retain holdings on microfilm in lieu of binding for this title. Since the
special issues are also included in the microfilm edition, this seems to be
even stronger evidence that the special issues SHOULD be included on the annual
hard copy subscription. If I were you, I'd go back and renegotiate with your
vendor.
