ALCTS ELECTRONIC PUBLISHING DISCUSSION GROUP
PRELIMINARY ORGANIZATION MEETING ANNOUNCED
A preliminary meeting to assess the need for a new ALCTS
Discussion Group on Electronic Publishing will be held in San
Antonio on Sunday, January 26, 11:30-12:30. This group in intended
to provide a forum for discussion of collecting, acquiring,
cataloging, storing, distributing, and archiving information in
electronic format -- all topics that frequently appear on various
listservs. Evidence is that many libraries are forming working
groups to deal with these issues on a local level.
The agenda for the organizational meeting will include
discussion about the need for and purpose of the group, how it
would differ from other ALCTS discussion groups, the process for
petitioning ALCTS to formally recognize the group, and possible
topics for future meetings. Location for the meeting will be
announced.
