Barcoding Unbound Periodicals Kat McGrath 20 Nov 1991 01:25 UTC

We are about to begin barcoding our collection
(3 million volumes and growing) - your sympathy
is gratefully accepted.
Currently we are bogged down with the 'where to
stick it' question for unbound periodicals. We
are one of the few libraries in our area which
circulates our unbound journals. As I know that we
are not the first library to barcode I would be
interested to know how others have solved this
problem. Front/back, left/right, up/down - where
on the issue are you sticking the label? Of course,
there are always exceptions, but what general rules
have you applied and how did you come to this decision.
Speedy replies would be greatly appreciated.
I will summarize for the list if response warrants.
Many thanks in advance.
