Re: Planning for Electronic Journals
At Stanford, electronic journals are selected by the collection
development staff for retention. Titles received over the network
are subscribed to by the serial records staff. Issues are
checked in and claimed using the same procedures as for print
journals. All serial titles selected for the collections are
cataloged. Journal issues are downloaded onto disc, and the discs
are stored in the the library's multimedia center. Eventually we
expect electronic journals to be stored on a campus server so the
text is as easy to access as our online catalog.
