Edward Bennett Williams Law Library of Georgetown University Law Center,
Washington, DC announces the opening of recruitment for the position of
SERIALS/GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT LIBRARIAN.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Direct processing of serials and
government documents collections. Duties include: (1) oversight of serials
control operations, including check-in, claiming, and binding; (2) management
of government documents, including check-in, claiming, and comprehensive
care of the Library's U.S. government documents depository program; and (3)
supervision of 4-6 full-time employees and several student workers. Position
is part of Technical Services and reports directly to the Acquisitions
Librarian.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ALA accredited MLS, good communication
skills, organizational and analytical abilities, and a commitment to
excellence. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Academic law library experience;
experience with serials control operations; knowledge of government documents
and the US government documents depository program; and experience with
bibliographic utilities and library automation, specifically OCLC, INNOPAC,
and Faxon's DATALINX.
The Edward Bennett Williams Law Library is a rapidly expanding collection of
over 600,000 volumes and 9,000 active serial subscriptions with a materials
budget of $1.8 million. The Library participates in US government documents
depository program on a selective basis. As part of a technologically
sophisticated environment, all elements of the Library's integrated
automation system, INNOPAC of Innovative Interfaces, Inc., are in place and
operational. Professional librarians number 20, and the full-time support
staff totals 45.
Salary is competitve and subject to negotiation depending on qualifications.
