The Lehigh University Libraries seek a Manager of the
Serials Department who will be responsible for planning,
implementing, and directing serials cataloging, control, and
binding activities utilizing OCLC and GEAC automated
systems.  The Manager reports to the Associate Director for
Technical Services and supervises four support staff and one
half-time serials cataloger.

The Libraries operate in a technologically advanced
environment supporting 4,200 undergraduates and 2,000
graduate students with a collection of almost one million
volumes and 9,000 serials.  Located within 1.5 hours of NYC
and Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley offers rural, suburban,
and historic town lifestyles with many recreational and
cultural opportunities.

The successful candidate will have an MLS from an ALA
accredited institution, and a minimum of 5 years
professional experience in an academic or research library,
including significant (at least two years) experience in
serials cataloging.  Working knowledge of European languages
and general microcomputer software are required as well as
strong interpersonal and communications skills.  Also
necessary are knowledge and experience with AACR2, LCSH,
major classification systems, OCLC or a similar
bibliographic utility, and automated serial control systems.
The position demands the ability to perform detailed
analytical work.  Supervisory experience and evidence of
professional development are highly desirable.

Salary: $31,000 minimum with an excellent benefits package
including health, life and disability insurance; tuition
