Serials Workflow BMACLENN@UVMVM.BITNET 19 Jun 1991 23:01 UTC

I'm interested in finding out where the serials workflow is fitting
into the grand scheme of things at other people's institutions. At
UVM, we currently are operating as serials acquisitions and serials
cataloging (under technical services), while the periodical room and
microform area have been under the domain of the assistant director
of reader (or public) services.

Are there institutions out there who have managed to incorporate all
these areas into one? Or, who are managing serials acquisitions and
serials cataloging as one unit? Or variations on any of the above?
What are the benefits and drawbacks of various set ups?

Or, where are serials in your organizational chart (wasn't that the
name of a NASIG workshop last year, or the year before)? I ask
because, as you may imagine, we are considering various plans for
reorganization here ... and I'm curious to know what other people
are doing or have done in this area. Also, does anyone know of
any good articles that have been written about this?

Thanks in advance.
