I agree completely with Charley Pennell's comments on tailoring
the 780/ 785 notes. As an RLIN library, we were used to having
ALL of the 780/785 print constants supported and were quite
dismayed to discover that NOTIS does not support the paired 780
second indicator 4's and 785 second indicator 6's and 7's.
Rather than have everyone double keying those fields, I feel we
should urge NOTIS (and any other vendor) to support the standard
MARC print constants. I have spoken with NOTIS personnel about
this on various occasions, but talking to a non-cataloger about
this brings on glazed eyes and mumblings about passing this on to
XYZ.
On another display pet-peeve - Does anyone else wonder why the
current frequency displays ahead of the oldest former frequency
in NOTIS? This is really confusing when |b dates are not
available. Will frequency information be generated from MHDL in
any way that will alleviate this problem?
