This ended up in my mailbox. I'm not sure if it was directed to Serialst
or not, but I'm forwarding it to the list anyway. Respond directly to
Rosemary Kavanagh (see below) or to Serialst (I'd also be interested in
hearing what folks have to say on this topic) OR, you might try contacting
either of the e-mail addresses listed above. I'm not sure of this message's
origin. -- Birdie MacLennan, University of Vermont

The Serials Public Access Group based in Ontario is interested in
communicating with libraries with an interest in linking indexed
periodicals to their holdings in their Online Public Access
Catalogues.
Currently many libraries use commercially available index products
and are struggling to provide article-level access to their journal
collections because there is no standardized way to create
automatic links between these indexed data to the local collection.
However, the Serial Issue Identification Code (SIID) developed by
the Serials Industry Standards Advisory Committee (SISAC) offers a
solution if publishers include it on the covers of all periodicals
and vendors of in-house systems enhance the serials holdings record
to store the SIID.
If you have addressed this problem or are concerned our group would
appreciate hearing from you. Please write or contact:
