Replying to the question regarding barcoding microforms
We have not started to do it yet, but our barcoding manual, borrowed
from Cornell University, shows where to put the barcode, which is on
the outside front (large side) of the box (thin side with call
number/item number and/or author/title label to the left) in the right
corner, at least 1/2 inch from the edges. For microfiche the
designated place for the barcode is on the outside front (large side)
of the envelope/box/container in the upper right just below the call
number, at least 1/2 inch in from the right edge and 1/2 inch down from
the top. (Do not barcode each fiche). This is all copied directly
from our barcoding manual. It has pictures drawn as well, so that the
staff member can see exactly where the barcode should go.
