This question will eventually (I hope) be solved by the emergence of an
integrated MARC bibliographic format, but while we are waiting ...
I'm curious to know which format people are using to catalog serial
CD-ROMs:  serials format? or computer files format?  Any particular
reasons for using a specific format?  Also, for those of you who
display volume holdings to the public, do you use the enum/chron.
that's on the CD-ROM, or the time period that the CD-ROM covers/indexes?

At UVM (NOTIS site) I have found there are advantages and disadvantages
in using either format.  Computer files format (CFF) provides several "serials"
fixed and variable fields and can be encoded to display as "datadisks"
in our MHI indexes.  However, serials format allows us to encode so
that our acquisition records (i.e., current receipt line) will display
to the public (not possible with CFF).  We have decided to display
what time period the CD-ROM covers in our vol. holdings records (which
display to the public).  What are other institutions doing?

I'd also be curious to know if there are places that are
implementing any kind of multiple version cataloging this type of
material.  Is anyone cataloging different physical versions
on the same record (ex., Wilson indexes are issued in print and CD-ROM;
are people cataloging them separately, or finding ways to integrate
them into one record?)  Has anyone heard anything more about implementation
plans or guidelines for multiple version cataloging?  The latest source
that I've seen is The Multiple Versions Forum Report (1989 : Airlie, Va.).
