NASIG February webinar - Troubleshooting Electronic Resources with ILL Data
publicist 08 Feb 2016 16:51 UTC
Greetings!
NASIG's Continuing Education Committee is hosting a one-hour
webinar "Troubleshooting Electronic Resources with ILL Data"
on February 18, 2016 at 1pm (EST).
Troubleshooting electronic resource linking issues can seem
to be an insurmountable task - so many resources, so little
time. Using ILL data on cancelled requests for materials
available online, the electronic resources staff at the
Samford University Library detected problems with the
implementation of their new link resolver as well as
metadata communication issues between databases and their
link resolver knowledgebase. The establishment of a workflow
for communicating cancelled ILL transaction data on an
ongoing basis has also improved the communication between
electronic resources staff and the ILL department thus
improving overall linking and customer services for our
users. This presentation will demonstrate how a single
cancelled ILL transaction can lead to the discovery and
solution of systemic linking problems.
