not a journal, but early western collecting of scholarly articles under one title was the Encyclopedia project.

Subject: [SERIALST] what was the first scholarly journal published, when, and who is the publisher?

Greetings all,

I am working with a subject liaison librarian on a presentation to her faculty about the history of scholarly literature in biology. The question posed to me that I thought would be good to put out to the list is - What was the first scholarly journal published, when, and who is the publisher?

If you have any suggestions on how to find out, will you please take a moment and help me on this one. Thank you very much!
