ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, SPECIAL COLLECTIONS CATALOG LIBRARIAN
Western Kentucky University (WKU), Department of Library Technical Services, seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor as a Special Collections Catalog Librarian. This is a 10-month tenure-track faculty position reporting to the Department Head of Library Technical Services (DLTS) which is composed of these areas: Continuing Resources, Bibliographic Access, Acquisitions/Collection Services, and Student Personnel. DLTS is responsible for acquiring, organizing, cataloging, and providing access to books, non-print items, continuing and electronic resources; binding and preserving materials for extended use in the collection. WKU Libraries uses Voyager integrated library system. Anticipated starting date is January 1, 2015.
 Responsibilities include: Original cataloging, complex copy cataloging, and classification of monograph and continuing resources in a variety of formats in all subject areas for Kentucky Library Research Collections, shared responsibility for the cataloging and classification of some foreign language monographs, participation in special projects as needed, and teaching, research/creativity activity, and university/public service as outlines in the university and department criteria for faculty promotion and tenure.
Requirements:
•	MLS from an ALA-accredited program
•	Skill with current and developing cataloging and metadata rules and standards, LC subject headings and classification, authority control, and MARC formats through coursework or job experience
•	Reading knowledge of a foreign language
•	Cataloging experience
•	Working knowledge of OCLC and an integrated library system
•	Ability to work within a team environment
•	Proven ability to meet research, service, and publication requirements for promotion and tenure
