Position Title: Electronic Resources Librarian
Description:
The Electronic Resources Librarian assists with the acquisition, access, administration, support, and evaluation/monitoring of electronic resources under the supervision of the Associate Director (AD) for Technical Services. This position works collaboratively with library staff to develop and maintain the electronic resources collection for Neumann Library. Monitors vendor agreements for electronic resources, and also works closely with library vendors and the legal department during contract negotiations. Assists with verification and troubleshooting of access to electronic resources as well as gathering data and performing tasks for routine renewals and special projects. Must stay abreast of current trends and new technologies for managing electronic resources and advocates for their adoption when appropriate.
Responsible for monitoring the licensing for library electronic resources, ensuring timely contract renewals. Assist with reviewing of terms and conditions for vendor agreements, and construct contracts. Serve as a liaison between vendors and UHCL legal, monitoring contract negotiations to completion of agreements. Maintain vendor relations. Work closely with technical services colleagues in maintaining and providing access to electronic journals; register database and journal access with vendors, publishers, and subscription agents. Assist in serials review projects and annual subscriptions.
Verify access to electronic resource links in collection. Track the transfer of online subscriptions from one publisher/platform to another, or in and out of online packages and track title changes. Assist with troubleshooting access issues for electronic resources, maintaining subscription and vendor spreadsheets and with compiling usage statistics. Add new data and perform routine maintenance of electronic resource in various library management systems.
Consult with subject librarians to acquire electronic resources. Keep librarians current on new electronic services. Participates in the library’s faculty liaison program, and participate in collection development as a subject selector; weeds the general collection in the appropriate subject area. Serves on library and university committees. Others related duties as assigned.

Required Education:
Master’s degree of Library Science (MLS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.
Experience/skills:
One year of related work experience in electronic resources management, technical services, or cataloging.
Must have strong, effective oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and patrons. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team, managing tasks in a timely and effective manner with minimal supervision. Sustain close attention to detail, use initiative and judgment to solve problems and exercise discretion in all duties.
Ability to learn and work with a variety of online resources, including vendor systems and library management systems. Experience with database and internet searching. Ability to recognize and resolve or refer problems. Experience working with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel spreadsheets. Ability to work within the dynamic and changing framework of current and future library practices.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with an integrated library system in academic library.
