Birdie was at IFLA in Singapore in August.  I heard her talking to an African delegate in extremely fluent French and I asked her about it.  She said she had a Master's in French.  I told her I was very impressed with her fluency.

What a loss!  Birdie has been a mainstay of the Serials scene for decades.

I knew Birdie through my work in ALCTS, both when I served as an ex-officio member of the LRTS Editorial Board and more recently as LRTS Editor.  Birdie was enthusiastic and full of life, and it was a pleasure to work with her.  She had a lovely smile and was a kind and gentle person.  She had a passion for her work in ALCTS and IFLA, and will be very much missed.
