Subject: [SERIALST] Apply for the 2012 ACS Publications Charleston
Scholarship

In keeping with ACS Publications' commitment to fostering strong
partnerships with the library community, ACS Publications once again is
offering a $1500 scholarship for a librarian or para-professional to
attend the 2012 Charleston Conference November 7-10, 2012.

Applicants must:
* Work currently as a librarian or para-professional
* Provide a ONE PAGE resume (not longer!)
* Submit an essay of no more than 2 pages double-spaced responding to
the prompt below:

"If not the "Big Deal", Then What? The Current Model is Unsustainable."

How many times have you heard that before? With every library conference
featuring sessions about "Breaking the Big Deal," green/gold open
access, and patron-driven acquisition, the question still remains:

If the current model is really is unsustainable, what are REAL
alternatives? More importantly, what alternative business models is YOUR
library pursuing and why? Is your library satisfied with the current
model? If so, why?

DEADLINE for Scholarship Applications is Friday SEPTEMBER 14, 2012.
Please send applications or questions to LibraryRelations@acs.org
SUBJECT LINE "Charleston Scholarship Application".
